I've been working on this one for about a week. I might turn this into a novel somewhere in the future.
---------------------------------------------------------------
There was something about Adam that intrigued Julia. She was fascinated by the way he walked, the way he dressed, everything about him, attracted her in his direction. But, she just couldn't bring herself to introduce herself to him. How did Adam feel about her? On the first day of College, he stepped inside his first class. He sat down to the right of the room. Five minutes later, a lean, slender girl with red hair, entered the room and sat on the same side. Adam had a special affection for red-heads. He loved how they were playful and passionate. Some of his good friends were red-heads. "She probably has a boyfriend. All the good looking ones are taken," he thought to himself. "I'm not even gonna waste my time," he agreed. When the class started, the professor went over what was expected from all of them. He knew the class was too advanced for him. The class ended and they all packed up to leave. The red-head left first before Adam. He followed her out of the building, but went the opposite direction to withdraw from the class. "I'll probably never see her again," he sighed. Julia thought the class would be too advanced for her as well. She glanced behind her. "I wonder who's that good looking boy that sat a few seats away from me. Oh well, I'm gonna drop that class. I'll probably never see him again," she thought to herself. Later that day, Adam went to the spot that all his friends hung out at. When he walked in the room, he saw the red-headed girl again. "Ok, so I was wrong," he thought to himself. He headed over to his friends. Julia spotted him as he walked past her. "There he is again. Those must be his friends. Obviously, it's not his first semester here, either," she thought to herself. Adam hung out with his friends between his classes. Then, he'd go home. The next morning, Adam came back to the same spot. There would be Julia sitting by herself. Adam set his stuff down, glanced around to see if there was anyone around to hang out with, and then leave. He took a lot of walks. He found them relaxing. When he'd return, he could've sworn that Julia was looking at him. He glanced at her and her eyes would be staring in his direction. He'd quickly turn his head away. "Was she looking at me? No, no there's no way she'd be looking at me. No girl's ever had an interest in me," he'd think to himself. "He's gorgeous! I can't take my eyes off him! He even wears a leather jacket just like me! I wish he'd come over to talk to me. I wonder what his zodiac sign is. I hope his sign's compatible with mine," Julia would think to herself. For three weeks, the same routine would go on. Adam would come in, set his stuff down, glance around the room to see if anyone was around, and then go for a walk. Julia would study him. Every morning that Adam glanced around to look for people he knew, Julia's eyes would be right on him. Even when he was with his friends, she'd be looking right at him. He'd glance at her every now and then. He'd always catch her looking at him, but it was always him that would quickly look away. She'd never drop her gaze. Every day, she would tell herself the same thing. "Alright, today I'm finally going to talk to him," she'd tell herself with confidence. However, every day she'd just look at him. One day, she just said something in general in hopes he'd reply. It worked. He muttered a few sentences back. But, then he had to leave. "Good luck with that," he told her. "Thanks," she replied. The weekend came and went. The next week was a short week. Adam walked in and glanced at Julia. She caught his eye and waved. "It's about time," he thought to himself. Adam never talked to a girl unless they made the first move. There were times when Julia was alone that he thought about going over there, but he didn't want to disturb her peace. "Hey, what's up?" Adam greeted her. "Hey there," she replied. "I'm Adam," he extended his hand. "I'm Julia," she replied while shaking his hand. She had a firm grip. It caught Adam by surprise, slightly. "I've seen you around here a lot," said Adam. "Yeah, me too. I've been studying you for quite a while. I've been meaning to ask you....what's your zodiac sign?" Julia asked. "I'm a Virgo," he answered. Julia smiled. "We're compatible," she said. "Are we?" he said slyly. "So, what else would you like to know about me?" he asked. "What do you like?" she asked him. "I like martial arts, comics, 80's music, and I have this thing for red-heads," he told her. "What about you?" he asked her. "I like astrology. As far as guys go, I like Italian men. Oh, and I like guys that wear leather jackets," she replied. "Really...that's interesting," he said intrigued. "What's your personality like?" Julia asked him. "My friends really reflect who I am. I'd do anything for them. Come to think about it, I'd do anything for anybody as long as they were worth it. People that take advantage of other people aren't worth my time," he replied. Julia's eyes rose. She was pleasantly surprised. "I have a friend that's looking for a guy like you. Her name's Katie. I've been her best friend, since high school. Do you mind if I tell her about you?" she asked. "No, not at all," said Adam. Julia smiled at him. "Good, I think you'll like her. She's a great person," she told him. Adam smiled as well. "I'm sure I will. I gotta run, but I'll talk to you, tomorrow," said Adam. "Alright, well it was nice talking to you. I'll be sure to tell Katie about you," said Julia. Adam extended his hand. Julia shook his hand. Again, Adam was surprised by how firm her grip was.
Adam left, but Julia was still on his mind. They started to hang out almost every day. They'd flirt with each other constantly. A lot of people noticed how Julia seemed to come alive when Adam was around. Adam was really starting to become attracted to her with each passing day. But, in the back of his mind, he thought of Julia's friend that he was supposed to meet. He liked Julia a lot, but his mind would become conflicted. He felt that he should give Katie a fair shot. However, one day when him and Julia were hanging out alone, she wrapped his arms around him. "Whoa, I wasn't expecting that," said Adam. "I just feel comfortable around you," said Julia. They hung out for another half hour. Then, Julia took hold of Adam's Right hand, then the left. She leaned in and kissed him gently on the lips. "Alright, I gotta make an effort. I've let too many chances pass me by already," he thought to himself. "I've gotta ask ya something," he told her. "Ok, what is it?" she asked curiously. "Would you consider being my girlfriend?" he blurted out. She seemed taken back. "What should I do? I mean he has a lot of good qualities, but I promised Katie," she thought to herself. "You know, I would consider it. But, I did promise Katie that I'd introduce you to her. If that doesn't work out, then....maybe," she answered. "Alright, I can live with that," he replied. They hung out for a little longer later, then Adam left. Over the weekend, Julia ran into an old friend. They hung out and before she or anyone else knew it, they were engaged. When Adam heard the news, his heart sank. He never did meet Katie. He still hung out with Julia. She did try to get Katie to meet Adam, but she kept making excuses. She never told anyone, but she was torn between two people. She felt that she should give her fiance a chance, but on the other hand, she was attracted to Adam as well. Adam didn't know this, but Julia would still be on his mind. One of his friends encouraged him to invite her to watch the big superbowl with them. He did so and Julia agreed to join them. When she came over, he found it very difficult to focus on the superbowl. Then, she excused herself. Fifteen minutes passed and she didn't return. The others wondered where she was, but Adam had an idea where she was. Sure enough, during halftime, he found her hanging out with another of his friends. They were doing shots. Adam joined them, then they went up to watch the rest of the game. "Hey, do you wanna go with me to get my camera?" she asked, slightly buzzed. "Yeah, alright," he said. They headed downstairs, then she turned to face him before opening the door. She leaned in and kissed him again. "But, what about your fiance?" he asked nervously. "I don't know," she said guiltily. "Well, forget it then," said Adam. Then, he grabbed her by the front and pulled in for another kiss. They smiled at each other, then they grabbed her camera and headed upstairs. After the game was over, they cuddled for the rest of the night. It was the best night of their lives. Regardless of Julia's fiance, nothing would ever change that.
